Who We Are

September 15, 2008

Town Hall Meeting

I.S.Q.C.C.B.E

See Minutes of  September 15, 2008  Board of Directors/General Membership Meeting for attendees.

Kathy King called the meeting to order at 7:47 pm.  She informed the membership that people would be speaking in no particular order.  She then reminded everyone that the purpose of this meeting was for issues that need to be aired whether they be good, bad, or whatever.  We need to stop the hearsay and gossip and bring these issues to the table for discussion.  She then mentioned the possibility of having these meetings once a month.

Sam Clemons read the Purpose of our organization.

Kathy recognized the following people:

Sam Clemons

Sam brought to everyone’s attention the divisions in the organization that are very noticeable and the loss of attention to our purpose.  He also mentioned that since Panzi’s visit with us, he has noticed lots of effort toward change for the good.  He said that it is going to take everyone’s efforts to heal this organization.  Bitching is not productive and we need to put all the negativity in the past.

*David Bennett agreed with Sam.

Tom Wherry

Tom informed everyone that he too had been in contact with Panzi and had multiple conversations.  He addressed the issue of being called a “pot stirrer” and admitted that if that meant he stood up for what was right, then that is what he is.  He then  noted the importance of one’s own personal ethics, and that if these are in line, then everything else will be in order.  Everyone involved must admit their parts in the current situations if the organization and the people in it are going to heal.  Money will come when there are healthy relationships in the organization.

*Greg Barker agreed with Tom.  He stated that all the anger basically comes from being hurt and we need to identify and address the source of this hurt in order to heal.  We need to address the little things before they become big things.

Ginger Snap

Ginger stated that decisions that have been made in the past are done.  We need to leave them there.  The only way we are going to heal amongst us is to take baby steps  toward this goal.  We aren’t going to heal the organization over night.

Mike Burke

Mike brought up the issue of money handling and theft, particularly items left in the dressing rooms during shows.  He mentioned that purses were being left open with money in them, jewelry left laying around and that we need to start paying attention to how we leave things when they aren’t attended.  He also brought up the fact that when things go missing, some  people make assumptions and that it needs to stop.  He then mentioned the possibility of a room monitor.

*Dixie brought up the unnecessary bodies that hang out in the dressing rooms and suggested that we start enforcing the rules about only performers and their dressers are allowed in the back and that we politely ask non-performers to stay out of the dressing room.  Show hosts responsible for keeping nonperformers out.

Mike then brought up the issue of respect for individuals, bars, and the organization.  The gossip needs to stop and we need to start cleaning up after ourselves better at the bars when we finish with a show or event.

Roberta Bigg

Roberta brought to the table that she was not going to bring up the issue of her membership.  She did point out however that everyone in the organization is an important part.

Kevin Raleigh

Kevin brought to everyone’s attention that he felt we had lost our focus on AIDS/HIV.  He sought an answer on why this has happened.

Kathy King

Kathy brought up the issue that she had received 3-4 phone calls that Coronation election results were known before hand.  She looked into the rumor/accusation and found no issue.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 pm and Kathy announced that we would have another meeting the next Monday at 7:00.
